How I Built the Hit AI Movie “Khaeos Breaking Reality” If you are looking for the one prompt I used to create *Khaeos Breaking Reality*, it does not exist. That is probably the first thing I would tell anyone who asks me how I make AI films. When you watch the finished project, you see one movie. What you do not see are the hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of prompts, images, video generations, failed generations, rewrites, edits, and creative decisions that happened before that final version existed. I do not open an AI video generator, type “make me a movie,” and somehow get a finished film back. My process starts way before I generate video. For me, AI is part of the production process, not the entire production process. **It Starts With the Story** Everything starts with the story and the characters. Before I start worrying about camera movement, visual effects, AI models, animation, or which tool I am going to use, I need to understand what I am actually making. I need to know who the story is about, what those characters want, what happened to them before the story began, what they are good at, what they are bad at, and why anybody watching should care about what happens to them. That became especially important with NeoMercy Clan because the universe became much larger than I originally expected. I started creating characters, species, planets, galaxies, powers, relationships, wars, alliances, technology, cultures, and history. Eventually there was simply too much information to keep in my head, so I started developing what I call my Story Bible. The Story Bible became the foundation for the entire universe. It contains information about the characters, their backgrounds, ages, abilities, weaknesses, personalities, fighting styles, home worlds, species, technology, alliances, pronunciation, history, and the rules I have established for the universe. It also contains information about the planets themselves, including their environments, populations, cultures, aggression levels, ecosystems, and how different civilizations relate to one another. The reason I put that much information together is simple. Once something becomes part of the NeoMercy canon, I do not want to guess what I decided six months later. If a character comes from a certain world, has a certain ability, speaks a certain way, or has an established weakness, I want that information recorded somewhere. It is a lot of work at the beginning, but it prevents a lot of problems later. **I Build the Character Before I Build the Scene** One of the biggest lessons I learned early is that giving somebody a power is not the same thing as developing a character. Saying Rivnor controls lightning tells me what Rivnor can do, but it does not tell me who Rivnor is. I want to know where the character grew up, what kind of family they came from, how they discovered their abilities, how they were trained, how their culture shaped them, what they believe, what they fear, and how they react when everything goes wrong. I also want to know how they fight and why they fight that way. Their abilities should feel connected to their personality and history, not like I randomly assigned a special effect to them. The same thing applies to weaknesses. Powerful characters can become boring very quickly if nothing can challenge them. Sometimes the weakness is physical. Sometimes using the power has a cost. Sometimes the real weakness is emotional. A character might be almost impossible to defeat physically, but the moment someone they love is threatened, they stop thinking clearly and make a terrible decision. That gives me something to write around. It also gives the character room to change over time. I do not want characters who are just collections of powers. I want them to feel like people who happen to live in a science-fiction universe. **Building the Worlds Around the Characters** After I started developing the characters, I began building the worlds around them. I never wanted NeoMercy Clan to feel like a collection of random alien backgrounds with different colored skies. If somebody comes from another planet, I want that planet to feel like it existed long before that character walked onto the screen. That meant thinking about the climate, plants, animals, resources, technology, population, culture, and history of each world. I started thinking about what those civilizations trade, what they need, what they are afraid of losing, and how they respond to outside threats. I even created aggression levels for the species because that changes the way a civilization reacts when conflict begins. A peaceful civilization should not respond to a resource dispute the same way a warlike civilization does. Some species may spend months trying to negotiate before fighting. Others may see military action as the first reasonable response. That difference gives each civilization more personality. Once I started building the worlds this way, the worlds began creating story ideas on their own. If one civilization desperately needs water and another controls a major supply, there is a possible conflict. If one world develops technology that another civilization wants, there is another conflict. If two species depend on the same trade route, there is a reason for tension. Sometimes neither side even has to be completely wrong. One civilization may believe it is helping while another sees the exact same action as an invasion. Those are the kinds of conflicts I find more interesting because they give me something deeper than simply deciding one group is evil. ** Turning the Story Into Something AI Can Handle** Once I know the larger story, I start breaking it into smaller pieces. This is where AI filmmaking becomes very different from simply having an idea. The AI model does not understand the NeoMercy universe the way I do. I cannot hand it the entire movie and expect it to understand every character relationship, costume, location, power, emotional beat, camera angle, or rule I have established. I have to give it smaller jobs. I usually start with the larger story structure, then break that into scenes, and finally break those scenes into individual shots and moments. A larger sequence normally needs an opening, some type of escalation, a turn where something changes, a climax, and then some kind of consequence. I do not want a character to win a battle and simply walk away as if nothing happened. Something should be different afterward. Inside that larger structure may be dozens or even hundreds of individual generations. One shot might be a character walking into a room. Another might be a reaction during a conversation. Another could be a spaceship approaching a planet, two characters fighting, someone using a power, or a camera move that reveals an important piece of information. The important part for me is that the shot needs a reason to exist. Generating things because they look cool can get very expensive, very quickly. **Creating Character and Environment References** Character consistency is still one of the biggest challenges in AI filmmaking. If somebody appears near the beginning of my movie, I need that person to still look like themselves later. I do not want their face changing, their body changing, their clothing changing, or some random detail disappearing because the model decided to improvise. Because of that, I create reference material before I get too deep into production. I may create a full-body image, front view, true left and right side views, a back view, different clothing, facial expressions, combat references, and other images that I think will help later. I use the same idea for important locations and environments. I think of those images as visual instructions for the AI. I am not expecting the model to remember everything for me. I am giving it something specific to work from. A very simple character-development prompt could look like this: **Sample Character Prompt:** Create a photorealistic full-body science-fiction character. Adult male, early 30s, athletic build, intelligent expression, calm and confident personality. He wears fitted futuristic clothing made from realistic fabric and metal materials. Use a neutral standing position with the arms relaxed. Show the complete body from head to toe against a simple dark studio background. Use realistic skin, natural body proportions, believable materials, and cinematic photography. That is not meant to be the final character. It is a starting point. I may generate several versions before I find the one that feels right. Once I have a character I like, I may create a reference sheet so I can see the same person from multiple directions. **Sample Character Reference Prompt:** Create a four-view character reference sheet using the exact same character in every view. Show a Front View, True Left Side View, True Right Side View, and Back View. Keep the face, body proportions, hairstyle, skin tone, clothing, height, and accessories identical in every view. Show the full body from head to toe using a neutral standing position and a simple studio background. I use a similar process for environments because I want important locations to remain recognizable from scene to scene. **Sample Environment Prompt:** Create a photorealistic alien world covered in huge blue grasslands and dark crystal mountains. A large futuristic city sits naturally inside the landscape and should look like it was built by a civilization that has lived there for thousands of years. Do not include humans. Use a wide cinematic view, realistic atmosphere, believable materials, natural sunlight, and a strong sense of environmental scale. The point is not simply to ask for something that looks cool. I am trying to decide what this place actually looks like so I can return to it later. ** Moving From Images Into Video** Once the visual references are established, I can start building video shots. For *Khaeos Breaking Reality*, I used Seedance 2.0 heavily because Seedance 2.5 did not exist when I created the film. Even with Seedance, the model was not making the movie for me. It was generating individual pieces that I could use to make the movie. I still had to decide who was in the scene, what they were doing, where they were standing, what the camera was doing, how the scene should feel, what action needed to happen, and where that shot needed to end. A very basic video prompt could be something like this: **Sample Video Prompt:** Use the reference image as the visual foundation. The character walks slowly through the room while looking around as if searching for something. Keep the character’s face, clothing, body, and environment consistent with the reference image. Use natural walking motion with subtle cinematic camera tracking from the side. Do not introduce new characters. Keep the movement realistic and grounded. That is obviously a very simple example. My real production prompts can become much more detailed when I am dealing with dialogue, multiple characters, powers, fight choreography, camera cuts, exact positions, or continuity between different shots. Sometimes a generation works almost immediately. Other times the model completely ignores what I asked for. I might get a great character performance but terrible camera movement. The camera might work perfectly and the character suddenly changes clothing. Someone might walk through a wall, look in the wrong direction, grow an extra hand, or do something that makes absolutely no sense for the scene. That is simply part of working with generative AI. Sometimes I change the prompt, sometimes I change the reference image, sometimes I change models, and sometimes I decide the original idea for the shot is creating more trouble than it is worth and I redesign it. ** Editing Is Where the Film Comes Together** A folder full of AI-generated clips is not a movie. Editing is where those separate pieces finally become one story. That is where I decide what stays, what gets removed, how long a shot needs to last, where the next scene should begin, whether the dialogue sounds natural, and whether the pacing works. I also have to watch continuity very closely. A character cannot suddenly move to the other side of the room without a reason. Clothing should not change between shots. Important objects should not disappear. Lighting should make sense. The next shot should actually connect to the one before it. Sometimes I generate something that looks incredible by itself but does absolutely nothing for the story. I cut it. I have learned that a beautiful shot is not automatically a useful shot. The story has to win. **You Need to Be Realistic About the Budget** This is probably one of the most important things I can tell somebody who wants to make serious AI films. You need to decide what you can actually afford before you start. AI credits are not free, and when you begin working on longer films, the costs can grow much faster than people realize. *Khaeos Breaking Reality* cost me almost $4,000 to create, and that project was built heavily using Seedance 2.0. If I tried to recreate that exact project today using Seedance 2.5 with the way I currently work, I could easily see myself spending several times that amount. That is my personal estimate based on the kind of production I do, but it is exactly why I think budgeting needs to be part of the creative process from the beginning. Using the most expensive AI model does not automatically make every shot better, and every scene does not need the most expensive model available. If I have an important emotional scene, complicated dialogue, multiple characters interacting, or something where the performance is critical, I may decide that spending more on that scene makes sense. If I simply need a character walking down a hallway for a few seconds, I probably do not need to use my most expensive video model. That is where intention and purpose become important. Before I generate something, I try to understand why I need it. I ask myself whether the shot moves the story forward, whether the audience needs to see it, whether I already have something I can use, and whether a less expensive model can handle the job. I also have to be careful about generating the same thing again and again because I am hoping the next attempt will somehow be slightly better. You can chase perfection forever with AI. There will always be another generation you could make, another camera angle you could try, or another version that might be a little better. At some point you have to be able to look at a shot and say, “This works. Move on.” Having a budget helps force that discipline. It also helps keep the story from drifting. You might be halfway through a film and suddenly think of an incredible spaceship battle. It might be a great idea, but if the story does not need a spaceship battle, that idea can suddenly cost hundreds of dollars, create ten more scenes, and send the entire project in another direction. Sometimes the smartest decision I can make is simply to say, “That is a great idea, but it is not for this movie.” Good planning saves money. A strong Story Bible saves money because I am not constantly reinventing things. Good character references save money because I have a better chance of getting consistent results. Knowing what a scene needs to accomplish saves money because I am not generating shots without a purpose. Choosing the right model for the right job saves money because I am not paying premium prices for simple work. Every problem I can solve before I press Generate is a problem I do not have to spend credits fixing later. **I Do Not Believe in Magic Prompts** People ask AI creators for prompts all the time, and I understand why. Prompts matter, and I use them every day, but I do not believe there is some secret sentence that suddenly turns somebody into a filmmaker. I learned prompting the same way a lot of creators learn it. I experiment, I study what other people are doing, and I pay attention when somebody finds an interesting technique. If another creator has a really good way of describing camera movement, I may learn from that approach. If somebody discovers a better way of maintaining character consistency, I may test that technique and see whether it works for my project. Then I change things. I combine ideas. I work with AI to improve the prompt and make it fit what I am trying to accomplish. That is also why I have never been comfortable selling prompts and pretending every part of them came completely from me. In some cases, I may have learned most of the original structure from another creator and then changed it heavily over time. I do not have a problem admitting that because that is how people learn. I would rather explain my process than pretend I invented every prompting technique I use. The process is more useful anyway. **What I Have Learned** The AI tools are going to keep changing, and I expect the models I use today will probably be different from the ones I use a few years from now. I try not to build my entire creative process around one company or one model because the technology is moving too quickly for that. What does not change is the work behind the project. I still need a story, characters people care about, meaningful conflict, believable worlds, good dialogue, consistent visual references, editing, sound, quality control, and a realistic budget. Those things matter regardless of which AI model happens to be the newest or most popular at the time. If someone is just getting started with AI filmmaking, I would not tell them to begin by trying to create a huge movie. I would start with one character and figure out who that person is. Give them a history, something they want, something they fear, and a weakness that can create problems for them. Build the world they came from and then create another character whose goals get in their way. After that, make a scene. Then make another one. Keep your reference images, keep your notes, and keep track of what works and what fails. As the project grows, start creating rules so you do not have to reinvent the same information every time you return to the story. That is basically how NeoMercy Clan grew for me. There was never one prompt that created the universe, and there definitely was not one prompt that created *Khaeos Breaking Reality*. There were thousands of decisions, a ridiculous number of generations, plenty of failures, a lot of experimenting, a lot of learning, and almost $4,000 in production costs. AI helped me bring those ideas to life, but I still had to build the world first.
